The castle

from Castlenaud

In the heart of the Périgord Noir, the castle of Castelnaud, built on a rocky outcrop, offers a magnificent panorama over the Dordogne valley. Founded in the twelfth  century, it is a perfect example of medieval fortification. It now houses an important collection of weapons and armour. On the bastion, the most powerful siege engines of the Middle Ages are recreated in attack position.
